Chelsea Building Society has introduced new performance-improvement software to create a more dynamic staff-review process.
The software will match staff performance to the society’s competency matrix and schedule training as needed.
Currently around 1,000 Chelsea Building Society staff across the UK use the Kallidus learning-management system to book face-to-face training and to gain access to e-learning. The system also enables Chelsea to manage Financial Services Authority compliance requirements and to monitor other in-house training events. In addition, the learning-management system is used to control the award of accreditations and certifications as part of ongoing staff development.
Adding Kallidus Performance now provides a suite of competency-measurement tools by extending capabilities to include staff reviews and appraisals.
Gareth Harris, Chelsea Building Society’s people-development specialist, explained: “It is crucial to us to engage our staff both in their own development and that of the business overall. The system will enable us to record details of core and role-specific competencies and how individuals meet these, plus we will be able to log and review where staff are in relation to the competency matrix. Instead of just an annual staff review, now everyone will have access to an evolving and ongoing development process that will allow them to review and add action plans as needs and requirements change”.
Rob Caul, managing director of e2train, the company behind the software, said: “We have worked closely with Chelsea Building Society for a number of years. It has a clear vision of what it wishes to achieve through learning technology and we look forward to supporting it as its successful solution continues to grow”.
In addition, Gareth Harris is introducing more blended learning and is embracing learner-generated content via Web 2.0 features such as forums and message boards.
