Purpose

This study aims to examine the impact of innovative work behavior (IWB) on organizational innovation, digital innovation and quality enhancement in manufacturing sector organizations in Saudi Arabia. It aims to understand how fostering innovative behaviors among employees can drive technological advancements and organizational improvements, ultimately enhancing quality outcomes.

Design/methodology/approach

A cross-sectional research design was employed, gathering data from 267 employees in the manufacturing sector using a convenience sampling method. The study utilized structural equation modeling with SmartPLS 4.0 to analyze the relationships among the constructs, focusing on the direct and mediating effects of organizational and digital innovations.

Findings

The results demonstrate that IWB significantly influences organizational innovation, digital innovation, and quality enhancement. IWB directly drives both organizational and digital innovations, which act as mediators in improving quality outcomes. These findings highlight the interconnected role of employee innovation and digital transformation in achieving quality enhancements.

Originality/value

This study provides novel insights into the mediating roles of organizational and digital innovations in the relationship between IWB and quality enhancement. By focusing on the manufacturing sector in Saudi Arabia, the research contributes to the growing discourse on innovation dynamics, offering practical strategies for organizations to integrate innovative behaviors and digital advancements into their quality management frameworks.
