Purpose

The research investigates how faculty e-Readiness impacts student evaluations of service quality in higher education institutions through gender as a moderating factor.

Design/methodology/approach

The TPACK and UTAUT models’ constructs served as the basis to develop a validated eReadiness scale. The HEdPERF scale served to assess the quality of the services. The data was collected from 270 participants who were both faculty members and students at Indian HEIs. The proposed correlations were tested using structural equation modelling (SEM) while exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses ensured instrument validity. The multigroup analysis evaluated gender as a moderating factor.

Findings

The research established a direct and significant relationship between faculty digital preparedness and student perceptions of service quality. The research showed that female faculty members demonstrated better digital tool utilization to improve learning outcomes.

Originality/value

The research presents a new perspective through its examination of digital readiness variations between genders. This research introduces a newly designed evaluation tool specifically aimed at higher education institutions. The outcomes support university administrators in developing training and assessment frameworks that align with the demands of digital education through an inclusive design approach.
