Purpose

The study investigates the impact of knowledge management strategies (KMS) on e-learning effectiveness. The research seeks to explore how KMS influence knowledge acquisition, learner engagement, and overall e-learning experiences among adult learners.

Design/methodology/approach

A mixed-methods research design was employed. The quantitative phase involved an online survey of 450 adult e-learners across different e-learning formats, analyzed using Structural Equation Modelling. In the qualitative phase, 15 in-depth interviews were conducted to gain deeper insights into learners' experiences.

Findings

The analysis reveals that KM strategies such as content categorization and tagging significantly contribute to learner engagement and knowledge development. Engagement was particularly strengthened through tagging and community interaction. By contrast, knowledge repositories delivered uneven results, indicating their benefits are not uniformly experienced across elearning contexts.

Originality/value

The study highlights the underexplored areas of KM strategies and e-learning platforms in the Indian context, offering insights into enhancing online education through effective knowledge management practices.
