This study aims to examine the current state of knowledge of healthcare service quality by analysing published literature and tries to identify performance analysis and science mapping.
A bibliometric review approach was applied to 206 documents extracted from the Scopus database, over the period 1988–2023. Preferred Research Items for Systematic and Meta Analysis (PRISMA) protocol has been adopted for screening the sample document. Performance analysis and science mapping have been used to represent the scientific research graphically.
The study found that lean service quality, patient expectations, cultural diversity in preferences and strategic restructuring are the current research trends.
Most research has analysed the importance of service quality in the healthcare sector. Yet, none have explored the emerging drivers shaping the future of the healthcare service, highlighting the necessity for an in-depth bibliometric analysis. This study uses a comprehensive approach to address these gaps.
