Kulicke & Soffa's new Series 4500digital programmable manual wire bonders claims to offer a programmable automated bonding cycle for consistent, repeatable bonding,enabling high yields in the most challenging manual wire bonding applications(Plate 1).
Consisting of dedicated models for wedge bonding, ball bonding and single-point TAB, the new bonders maximize productivity by combining easy operation with digital capabilities. The 4500digital can store up to 200 process programs with six independent channels per program. The operator can load any program and access any parameter at the touch of a button, minimizing set-up time and error.

The bonders offer a variety of operation modes, from completely manual to fully automated wire cycles, making them ideal for a broad range of manual wire bonding applications. Automation modes include:
fully manual Z control and X-Y positioning;

semi-automatic Z-control with auto-stepback and loop formation;
auto mode for fully automated wire cycling.
Deep access bondheads are available for all models for added versatility.
