Delo, one of Europe's largest privately owned manufacturers of adhesives, has joined forces to market its full product range in the UK and Ireland with the Consumable Products Division of Inseto (UK) Limited.

The Delo product range includes light curing acrylates (Photobond) and light activated epoxy resins(Katiobond), silicones, anaerobic adhesives, cyanoacrylates, casting resins, and one and two part epoxies.

Delo's Photobond products are one part, solvent free, acrylic based adhesives. Visible light with a wavelength between 400 and 550nm will cure most materials with curing times from 2 seconds upwards. Light provides energy to the adhesive, enabling it to release free radicals that open carbon double linkages and this chain growth leads to a cured adhesive layer.

Photobond adhesives are excellent for bonding glass, plastics, and metals and are ideally suited to high volume, mass production applications, due to their very short cure times.

Delo's Katiobond products are one part, solvent free, epoxy resins that are cured by visible light between 400 and 550nm. The tremendous advantage that Katiobonds enjoy over other adhesives is their ability to be pre-activated. This allows the user to begin curing the adhesive before joining the two parts to be bonded.

Katiobond adhesives are especially suitable for use in electronics because of their low chloride level,and therefore low corrosion potential. They are also extensively used in flip-chip underfill applications. Additionally, they exhibit very good adhesion on plastics, and have a dry surface after curing. They are also used to mark nuts on bolts in anti-lock braking systems.
