The past year has seen the rise of ‘green consumerism’, the phenomenon of thinking about the environment when making consumer choices. The most striking example of green consumer pressure was the CFCs in aerosols campaign run by Friends of the Earth. This campaign was so successful in mobilising consumer action, that by the end of 1989, fewer than 10% of aerosols contained CFCs.
