The retail sector faces a major challenge to its store management strategies as a result of changing trading conditions and recent legislation allowing extended opening hours. Previous work by the author has considered the possibility of utilising part time female managers to help provide a solution to these problems. This paper, using one major retailer as the base for the research, examines the extent to which women themselves are ready and willing to play such a role.
