Latinas in the United States: A Historical Encyclopedia

American history often omits the histories of women and people of colour along with their contributions to American society. Fortunately, there are scholars like Vicki L. Ruiz and Virginia Sánchez Korrol, authors of Latina Legacies: Identity, Biography and Community, who are committed to promoting the history of Latino descent. In a New York Times article written eight years ago (Crossette, 2000), we were introduced to these two prominent scholars who were collaborating to produce a reference work, Latinas in the United States: A Historical Encyclopedia.
