This paper aims to explore and describe the critical factors that influence an executive’s coachability.
A qualitative research study was conducted to explore coachability based on the experiences of a sample of 151 C-suite executives. A content analysis of this data set identified a top 10 list of factors that impact an executive’s coachability.
Findings revealed that coachability is driven by a number of key factors that include a passion for personal development, humility, self-awareness, managing feedback and a true willingness to be held accountable, among others.
The input of our sample of C-suite executives adds a unique perspective on coachability as these leaders were given a voice and an opportunity to share their broad experiences without restraint on this important subject.
